Barbara's Sugar Free Caramels

2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 stick butter
2 cups artificial sweetener (must be a sugar alcohol--no substitutions)

Mix and cook (medium boil) on medium heat, stirring constantly until temperature reaches 245 on candy thermometer (about 1/2 hour). Pour into buttered 8x8 pan and cool. Cut into pieces with knife or scissors and wrap with waxed paper.
