Lowell Inn Rolls

2 packages active dry yeast
3/4 cup warm water
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup shortening
4 cups self rising flour

Dissolve yeast in water with a tablespoon of sugar. Stir in sugar, eggs, shortening and 2 cups of flour. Beat until smooth. Mix in remaining flour until smooth. Cover, let rise in warm place until double, about 1 hour. Divide dough in half and form desired rolls. Heat oven to 400 degrees, bake 12-15 minutes or golden brown. Brush rolls with butter. Makes 32 rolls.
